with Jennifer Armstrong
You are an artist - you brought imagination and honesty and heart to your music and words and they did what art should do - they told a beautiful, human story!
~ Jeffrey, School Principal
Books Alive
Nurture a love of books and reading with Jennifer's stories, songs, instruments and folk toys in this lively and participatory program. Jennifer brings books to life with bagpipe, fiddle, banjo, dancing puppet and handkerchief mouse. Some stories/books included are; The Gingerbread Man, The World According to Humphrey and The Tortoise and the Hare. Jennifer is happy to include a book of your choice given a month to prepare. This program meets language arts core standards through deepening listening skills and language appreciation. It also meets social emotional learning standards through stories of kindness, acceptance and creative problem solving. Students will sing, clap along and dance in their seats. For grades PreK-2 and 3-5.

What a joy it is to be present in the classroom when Jennifer introduces her music to the children. Rachel Nixon, Head of School, Children’s House Montessori School, Camden, Maine - 2023

“The song you created for our book was so much fun for our kids (and adults). One parent shared with me that their Kindergarten student was singing "Hum, Hum, Hum, Hum, Humphrey" at the top of their lungs all weekend. You definitely made a positive impression. When I booked you I had no clue of what a treat we were in for! Thank you again, for coming and sharing your gift of music and storytelling with our school.”

Stories told with music, song and poetry
I told my first folktale when I was two and half and my mother was so sick of telling me Goldilocks and the Three Bears she asked me to tell her the story instead. I did and have continued to tell stories ever after. I tell stories from my Celtic heritage, from my home in the Appalachian mountains, from my life experience and from favorite writers and poets.
I have been a featured teller at many festivals including; The National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, TN, The Ojai Storytelling Festival in CA, The Illinois Storytelling Festival and the Mansfield, PA Storytelling Festival. I also hosted an annual Pie and Storytelling Festival in Belfast, ME for ten years.
